As our society’s new reality of social distancing continues many are trying to find new ways to
keep themselves entertained. Picking up hobbies, learning new skills, and cleaning out that one
room in their house they have been avoiding for YEARS….
By far the most common entertainment strategy has been finding shows and movies to watch!
Online streaming has been a lifesaver for many trying to fight off the cabin fever blues of this
quarantine. Between Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Disney +, and so many more we are lucky to
have the world of entertainment at our fingertips. The only question is, “What should we watch?”
We’re glad you asked! Below is a list of movies and shows that might hit close to home for you
since they were filmed right here on Whidbey Island!
The Ring
Probably not a movie you want any kiddos around for. The Ring is a horror movie classic with
plot twists and turns that will keep you entranced and on your toes. It also was partly filmed right
here on Whidbey Island. Keep your eyes peeled for a familiar bridge!
Practical Magic
A little bit on the lighter side, Practical Magic is a heartwarming fantasy all about family ties and
sisterly love. You’ll love watching Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman stroll the streets of our very
own Downtown Coupeville which was used repeatedly in the film.
Beach Hunters
Looking for something a little more casual to watch? One of our personal favorites is HGTV’s
Beach Hunters! It’s no surprise that Whidbey Island makes a reoccurring appearance on this
show as we have some of the most amazing beachfront getaways!
BONUS! You can also catch a peek of some Windermere Agents on Beach Hunters. Amy Rudometkin
and Mike Konopik both make guest appearances on the show in Season 4 and Season 6 (respectively).
